Japan canceled Cherry Blossom Festival due to Covid-19

Authorities of Nakameguro District in Tokyo, Japan’s capital has released an announcement that the 34th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival was cancelled to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Japan.

Ahead of the Olympic Tokyo 2020, Japan’s authorities asked nationals organizations of sports and cultures to consider to postpone or cancel important festivals until March 15. The request was given to prevent new infections in this country due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in Japan, one of two biggest virus outbreaks in Asia, outside China. 

After Naruhito - Japan’s King declared to cancel the gathering people outside the palace on his 60th birthday celebration, a series of other festivals is going to be cancelled, including the Cherry Blossom Festival this Spring.

On February 25, the authorities of Nakameguro District in Tokyo have informed that the 34th Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival would be cancelled. The event was going to take place from March 21 to April 8 this year. This is one of the most exciting events in the country annually, which attracts a lot of people to come and take part in, also shots many beautiful pictures here. Another spring festival of Azalea in Okinawa in March is going to be cancelled.

Meanwhile, Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the most famous Japanese Cherry Blossom festivals, is going to take place from April 23 to May 6 this year.

According to new reports, the WHO said that there are 855 cases of Covid-19 infections in Japan, including 691 infected cases found in Diamond Princess Cruise ship near Tokyo’s port. The organization’s report also shows that Japan has the third biggest number of infected people after China and South Korea.

Covid-19 Pandemic caused troubles to tourism in Japan and worldwide as well. Many attractive activities and festivals around the world are cancelled unexpectedly. Therefore, Japan tourism during this period not only causes high risks of nCoV infection, but also limits your travel experiences in the country.
