International Dance Festival will have three important performances on December 12nd and 13th at GEM CENTER and on December 16th in Saigon Opera House. In this year festival, Vietnam will welcome art groups coming from 7 other countries involving Italy, Japan, Korea, Isarel, Philippines, Sweden, and Taiwan. The festival is expected to take place from December 7th to 16th with many meaningful and interesting activities, for example, training courses with choreographers coming from 7 nations attending in the festival. In addition to the familiar venue - Saigon Opera House, the organizing committee also decided to choose GEM CENTER as another venue to organize performances.
Similar to 2013, International Dance Festival 2014 is still on a theme of contemporary dance, however, the festival will continue to introduce to the public many different dancing styles from different countries in the world. Besides three main performances, artists also have talks and informal meeting to introduce about contemporary dancing styles in the world to people who have interest in dance in general and contemporary dance in particular. These talks will help Vietnamese audiences having more chances to learn about contemporary dance development in the world. International Dance Festival 2014, one of the biggest dancing festivals in Saigon in December, will welcome the attendance of organizations and enterprises under the role of sponsors such as CDEF (Sweden), Vietnam-France Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), Audi, PVcomBank, Sofitel Plaza Hotel, international non-profit organizations which are operating in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the behalf of Vietnam, a dance group of Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera and Arabesque dance group will perform special repertoires in the festival. Specifically, Arabesque dance group will perform a new dance called Thieu Than, on the other hand, a dance group of Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will introduce to audience "Lost and Found" Play. International Dance Festival 2014 is organized in a larger scale in comparison to the previous year with the participation of more countries.
Being firstly held in 2013 by Arabesque Company and Ho Chi Minh City Center of Organizing Performance and Cinema, the first International Dance Festival took place in Saigon Opera House with the participation of only 4 countries involving Vietnam, Italy, Japan, and Korea. The festival is considered as a good opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City's dancers to meet and exchange experiences with international choreographies and actors in order to improve the quality of the next artworks. After the success of the first festival, this year festival is held on a larger scale which will bring interesting artworks for audiences.
